November -- Integrated Nano-Biochemical Sensors
Workshop. A joint one-day workshop hosted by the
CNSE, the Institute for Cell Mimetic Space Exploration
at UCLA, and the Center
for Embedded Networked Sensing at UCLA. Recently,
there have been many breakthroughs in microfluidics
and molecular biotechnologies that can enable a new
generation of integrated nano-biochemical sensors
and instrumentation. This workshop will present the
state-of-the-art technologies within the three centers
and future application requirements. The goal of this
one-day workshop is to foster university, government,
and industry collaboration on this topic.
14-15
November -- NSF site visit
22-23
November -- Caltech Grad Preview for prospective
underrepresented minority graduate students in chemistry
and engineering. Campus tours, lab hours, and student-faculty
meetings. CNSE faculty will take part in this event.

Joint Symposium on Neural Computation
20
May -- Sensory Systems for Security Workshop
This
one-day workshop will explore critical needs facing
government agencies, and other organizations in detecting
and averting terrorist and other security threats
and how Caltech and industrial researchers affiliated
with the Center for Neuromorphic Systems Engineering
can contribute to this effort.
